    • Miller has been mixing in snaps...

Miller has been mixing in snaps at tight end during the 49ers' offseason program, CSN Bay Area reports.

Analysis: Miller has served as the team's fullback for the past five seasons, but he did see limited snaps at tight end last year. The reason for the potential role change is Chip Kelly's read-option offense, which doesn't utilize a fullback. Miller's versatile skill set and good hands (76 career receptions for 734 yards) should make the transition seamless, and he should be in the mix for snaps during training camp.

Harold, who was instructed to get stronger this offseason, has put on 30 pounds and now weighs 270 pounds, Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area reports.

Analysis: The 2015 third-round pick played sparingly last season. GM Trent Baalke recommended that Harold get stronger this offseason, and he responded by packing on nearly 30 pounds of mass. In a 3-4 scheme, the 49ers could be looking at Harold as the eventual replacement to Ahmad Brooks at outside linebacker. He would serve as the run-stopping option opposite the pass-rush specialist Aaron Lynch.

Smith will have the screws removed from his surgically repaired right foot this week, Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: Smith will need four to six weeks to recover from the procedure but will reportedly be ready for the start of training camp in late July. Smith underwent Lisfranc surgery back in November 2014, but returned healthy last season to start in all 16 games.

The Buccaneers relayed that Evans (undisclosed) was held out of drills Thursday. However, according to Jenna Laine of Sports Talk Florida, the wide receiver fit in some drills.

Analysis: After an abbreviated showing in the opening session of the offseason program Tuesday, Evans was yanked from action, with the Bucs stating that he "tweaked something." Expect the training staff to employ a prudent approach with the soon-to-be third-year pro, as he seeks to brush off a drop-laden season. Still, he racked up 74 catches (on 148 targets) for 1,206 yards and three touchdowns in 2015, so an improved rapport with Jameis Winston should yield the desired bounce-back effort.

Williams was signed by the Seahawks on Thursday, Stephen Cohen of seattlepi.com reports.

Analysis: Williams, a 28-year-old tight end, has recorded just four career catches, so it's unlikely he'll make much of an impact in Seattle. He'll be a long shot to get through the offseason without being cut, while Jimmy Graham (knee) and Luke Willson figure to lead the tight-end corps.
