Ponder made the final roster, the Vikings' official website reports.

Analysis: With Matt Cassel the Week 1 starter, and Teddy Bridgewater the clear No. 2, Ponder never really had a chance to be anything more than the third quarterback. He at least did enough to keep a spot on the roster, and could be the subject of trade rumors.

Murray is one of three running backs that the Raiders will carry heading into the season, csnbayarea.com reports.

Analysis: The team will also roster fullbacks Marcel Reece and Jamize Olawale, but Murray is a name to file away, given that he works behind a pair of veteran running backs (Maurice Jones-Drew and Darren McFadden) with notable injury histories.

Analysis: Stewart, a key special teams player, was let go Saturday, along with George Atkinson, which leaves the Raiders with Latavius Murray working as the team's No. 3 back behind Maurice Jones-Drew and Darren McFadden.

Ware has been released by the Seahawks, The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports.

Analysis: Ware is capable of playing both halfback and fullback, but the Seahawks don't really have a need at either position. Robert Turbin and Christine Michael are locked in behind Marshawn Lynch, while Derrick Coleman is set to work as the starting fullback.

Following the release of wide receiver Bryan Walters, Thomas will likely open the season as Seattle's primary punt returner, Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.

Analysis: Thomas has never returned a punt or kick during the regular season, but he did rip off a 59-yard punt return against the Bears in Seattle's third game this preseason. He has the athleticism to succeed in the role, and he might be able to tack on a touchdown or two through special teams. However, there's also the added risk of injury, which led fellow Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor to say that he thinks the idea of Thomas returning punts is a bad one, ESPN.com reports. Of course, Chancellor doesn't have much say in the matter, and it's far more telling that the Seahawks were willing to let Thomas return punts in the preseason.
