Hill has been signed to the Panthers' practice squad, the Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports.

Analysis: He worked out with Carolina earlier in the week, and while the Panthers have more conceivable avenues to playing time for a wide receiver than almost any other team in the league, practice squad players, especially documented busts like Hill, don't typically make good fantasy investments.

Fairley has been promoted back to a starting job, the Detroit News reports.

Analysis: Demoting Fairley was likely mostly a motivational issue after he came into camp heavy. He's got a chance to be a destructive force should he stay engaged.

Welker (suspension) has not been ruled out for Week 1, at least not by the Broncos, who are moving forward as if he will be able to play against the Colts, the Denver Post's Mike Klis reports.

Analysis: It's not clear how much validity to place on this report, as the notion that a player could play in a game just days after receiving a four-game suspension from the league is pretty counter-intuitive. The thinking from the team's side is that suspensions are never announced this late in a the week, but considering Welker would still have to pass concussion protocol, it would make more sense to accept the four-game suspension while he may still not be 100 percent healthy. Either way, it's something to monitor throughout the week, but the prevailing logic points to Welker being an incredibly risky guy to bank on in fantasy for Week 1.

Draughn is listed as the No. 3 running back on the Bears' latest depth chart, the team's official site reports.

Analysis: We'll monitor the Bears' backup RB workload in Sunday's game against the Bills, but for now Ka'Deem Carey is listed as Matt Forte's top backup and thus appears to be the player to target by those looking to secure Forte insurance.

Coach Dennis Allen indicated that it looks like Ausberry (knee) is on track to suit up in Week 1, ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: Ausberry returned to practice Monday after sitting out a few weeks with a knee issue, though even if he is able to play Sunday against the Jets, a wait-and-see approach is in order until he re-establishes his health/role.
